Our History
Our Future

River Ridge Evangelical Free Church Over 25 years ago, several families joined Dan Carlson in a home Bible Study. They were led by God to officially incorporate as the Mankato Evangelical Free Church on October 9, 1989. The first official worship service was held November 12, 1989 in the Holiday Inn. On June 26, 1991, the facility on N. Riverfront Dr. was purchased and renovations began with it being officially dedicated to the Lord on May 17, 1992. Our congregation moved into our current facility in North Mankato in March 2012 after twenty years in downtown Mankato. Our 31,000 square foot facility contains a Sanctuary, multiple classrooms, incredible youth room, gymnasium, two kitchens and ample classrooms. Throughout the last 25 years God has provided pastoral leadership from Scott Pospisil, W Peter Vander Hook, and Greg Spencer. We have also had Nate Holdeman, Steve Bailey and Matt Jenkins serve as Associate Pastors.
Our church directory lists members and attendees of our congregation that reside in wide variety local towns in Southern Minnesota. In 2012, a group of 40 members were involved in planting an Evangelical Free Church in New Ulm, Minnesota. In the summer of 2016, we officially changed our name from the Mankato Evangelical Free Church to River Ridge Evangelical Free Church. It is our desire to make disciples by helping people come to know Christ and grow in their relationship with Him in our local community and beyond!

The last 25 years have been an amazing ride for those who have been part of the church. But it begs the question, where are we going in the future? We are committed to making disciples. Our mission is to be used by God to be His disciples (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8) who are in Christ (Eph. 1:1-14) and who share Christ with their world (Acts 1:8). Thus we desire growth in seeing people come to know Christ as their Lord and Savior and growing deeper and closer in relationship with Him each day.

We are committed to relational ministry. With regards to seeing people come to know Christ, we focus on the fact that each of us has 8-15 people that are part of our social circles. These people may be our friends, family or co-workers. They are our sphere of influence. Our goal is to share Christ with these people, so that they grow one step closer to Him by coming to know Him for salvation or grow in their relationship with Him.

With regards to seeing people grow in their relationship with Christ, we believe this happens first and foremost in the context of relationships. It makes sense that Jesus said we are to love God and love others (Mark 12:30-31). Thus, we are committed to biblical instruction, relational evangelism, persistent prayer, authentic worship, and family relationships.

As we think about the future, we do not know every turn that the road has for us, but we do know that we want to be a church community that is growing in Christ!
